Become a Member
We are pleased that you have shown interest in how to become a member of our church. The Bible teaches us in Hebrews that believers should not forsake the assembling of themselves together. God is not pleased with a world that is minimalizing the importance of the church. The church should be more and more active in the days leading up to the coming of Christ. Jesus established the church and desires for us to be a part of it.
No local church can belong to anyone except God. We may hold an interest in the property or in the building, but the church is comprised of people. The church’s Head is Christ and its membership is made up of those who know Him personally. Thus, the first step towards church membership is knowing Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. If you have never received Christ, then click here to find out how you can make this decision today.
Once a person has received Jesus as Savior, the Bible teaches that they must be Scripturally baptized. Baptism is the answer of a good conscience toward God. It is a symbol—an outward expression of an inward decision. Baptism publicly identifies us with Jesus Christ and, when administered properly, identifies us with the local church and doctrine they teach. The Scriptures teach that the New Testament church is a local assembly of baptized believers who have voluntarily joined themselves together to carry out the Great Commission.
We find in the book of Acts that the Apostle Paul attempted to join himself to the believers in the local church at Jerusalem. Paul knew that the church was God’s ordained institution for change in the world. He spent the rest of his life working so that churches were established from city to city. We still believe that the Local New Testament Church is the primary means by which God is accomplishing His work in the world today.
The local church presents the believer with the opportunity to grow and serve in a spiritually sound and Biblically influential atmosphere. It also allows for accountability in the life of the believer. We believe the Bible teaches the importance of the church in the life of the believer. By becoming a member of Bible Baptist Church, you can partake of these benefits and become involved in the areas of ministry and service Bible Baptist offers to meet the spiritual demands of our community.
At Bible Baptist, there are three different ways to become a member:
- Believer’s Baptism: This is public identification with Christ by immersion in water after salvation.
- Statement of Faith: This is a declaration of your faith in Christ and of Scriptural baptism subsequent to the moment of saving faith without previous church membership.
- Letter from a church of like faith: This is a transfer of membership from another church of like faith and practice.
